We are seeking a Boston-based Associate Portfolio Manager to join our Implementation Research team. The ideal candidate will increase our implementation research bandwidth, including but not limited to portfolio construction, risk management, transaction cost modelling, attribution, and short-term alpha research. This person is expected to contribute both to the execution of the existing research portfolio and to the idea generation. This role will report to the head of the Implementation Research team in Boston.

What You’ll Do:

  • In collaboration with key investment team units, carry out research with the aim of improving active portfolio performance through better transfer of the existing alphas via better portfolio construction, better risk management, lower transaction costs, etc.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the current portfolio construction process and the way we manage various alpha-driven long-only and long-short strategies
  • Carry out research to improve portfolio construction in both live and simulated portfolios by both improving the results and performance of the existing setup and by exploring alternative techniques
  • Carry out research to improve the firm’s market impact models and trading strategies
  • Carry out research to better understand the drivers of portfolio returns, both for the live and simulated portfolios; leverage the existing portfolio analytics systems to generate ideas to enhance portfolio construction and attribution tools and methodology
  • Turn research code into production and help successfully implement completed research project
  • Articulate research results to the research team and senior management

We’re Looking for Teammates With:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or CFA, preferred
  • 4-7 years of prior work experience, preferably in quantitative investing/research
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning; experience with industrial-scale optimization software is a plus
  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred) and experience of working with large amounts of data
  • World-class analytical skills and the ability to clearly articulate the approach, process and results in verbal, graphical and written form
  • Willingness and ability to work in a collegial, results-oriented environment
  • Interest in following financial markets and a strong quantitative orientation for investing
  • Drive to deliver on high value projects and roll up your sleeves attitude
